Outdoor Ministry Projects
The Stewardship Committee with the approval of the Consistory has turned its focus from fundraising to nurturing key projects important to Mount Hope. These projects are tied to furthering the ministry of our church and have been developed by a number of people in the church.
They include: purchasing an electronic marquee, creating a playground for toddler-4yrs and 5-12 and developing land which the church already owns to further the mission of our church. Because these projects are similar and focus on outreach, we refer to them as Mount Hope Outdoor Ministry Projects.
The electronic sign will allow us to better communicate our events and special messages to the public and to members.
The playground will provide children with a place to play and show the
community how important youth programs are to Mount Hope.
We hope to install the playground at the front of the church near the breezeway. There will be a split between the two areas separated by a sidewalk. There will be a “triangular area” for toddlers through four-year olds. On the other side of the side walk we will have a playground for five to twelve-year olds.
We have checked with several contractors who do this sort of construction and we are currently reviewing codes, costs and other playground details before proceeding.
We also want to enhance access to our picnic shelter. This will make it safer to move from the parking area to the shelter and to pick up and drop off people, food and supplies. We want to put a set of swings with some for toddlers, 5 and up, and a combination swing for toddlers and their parents to swing together.
We wish to periodically make announcements on our activities and will keep our congregation informed of our work. As of May, we have $22,479.67 in our Outdoor Ministry Projects Fund; however, we will need additional funds. We ask that you pray for this ministry and support us through fundraisers and donations.
If you have any suggestions or contacts which can help us to complete the current projects, please let Gloria Apple know and please contact her or our other committee members with your ideas and suggestions.
This includes: Gloria Apple, Simon Clark, Bill Craft, Bennie Gerner,
Cliff Greeson, Dee Greeson, Cathy Gossett, and Becky Stafford.
